travel tales :: the unbelievable sale
here comes my final volume of imagery from Qatar – starting with that unbelievable sale from the Souq Waqif pet market I wrote about in my other Qatar blog post.
what was so unbelievable was that the sales people would colour little chickens just to sell them! that is not right? or what do you think?
ok, there is a lot more to Souq Waqif – which we LOVED. Doha and Qatar all together was great!
Here an Indian Craftsman, who sat ALL evening in ONE position and made this jewellery. very interesting to watch: the making as well as the bargaining!
The old buildings at Souq Waqif restored to new glory housing shops, restaurants and the night life full of buzz and Middle Eastern charm.
The following pictures where taken in Fanar, Doha, Qatar. Very nice and personal tour explaining the Qatari culture and Islam. I can recommend this very much for better understanding and learning! Thank you again for all your answers to my many questions, lovely ladies.
just a couple of photographs from this very modern and architecturally interesting looking conference centre in Doha.
And on further exploring the Qatar world we found really old ruins and abandoned fisher villages – but that has to wait yet for another travel tail.
and the biggest gift of all: my name specially written in Arabic by the resident calligrapher – very special and not usually done. Felt so blessed. Thank you again!
and in case you are looking for a good old film camera they have them, too, at Souq Waqif. Have you ever used one? That’s how I started my photography in 2000. 🙂
Have a great day! and check out my Facebook page the album travelloveliness for a mixture of iPhone handiness and big camera photos 😉
