Texas Travel as Photoshoot Inspiration

Longhorns, cowboys and cowgirls, a lot of heat and Mexico nearby, plus great steak encapsulate Texas, right? We discovered all of that and I must say our Texas travel has given me photoshoot inspiration big time. I got myself cowgirl boots and I adore them. We drove all across the State – quite a few miles – to find large city and small town, wildflowers and wild bears, national parks, and the Rio Grande. I can already imagine beautiful images of gorgeous girls appearing on all of these locations – maybe with exception to the wild bear encounter! But honestly, can you imagine cuddling with your fiancé in a sea of wildflowers and picking your favourite colour, too? Magical!

I really enjoyed the longhorns – they are quite big! So let’s start with Fort Worth – the place to go for anything cowboy – and girl – related.

Here are seven takeaways we enjoyed on our trip during May: (What you can do will depend on the season of the year.)

1. Fort Worth for the cowboy and longhorn experience. We enjoyed the walking tour through the historic district but missed a real rodeo by a day. Hopefully next time then! More visitor Information here.

2. We had some amazing steak at H3 in Fort Worth Stockyards Historical District and not only was the food good but the interior was in style too. We also tried Rudy’s BBQ  smoked meats and sauces  – so tender and tasty! It comes highly recommended.

You grew up on a farm, have a hang for horses – western style riding, and the Wild Wild West. Maybe the images below give you ideas and inspiration for your own styled portrait photoshoot.

Next on my list of Texas Takeaways:

3. Big Bend National Park. (Do some hiking when you are here in cooler months and stay in one of the park’s accommodations. This needs advanced booking (up to 1 year). When we planned our trip it all was booked out.
4. Wild Flowers in the Texan Hill Country near San Antonio – Fredericksburg grow along the road. A destination photoshoot where you walk through the flowers cuddling your hubby could be magical. 😉 My vision is already there.

The nature you see below are fantastic as a backdrop for a vacation photoshoot. You might call Texas, or the desert, home, or maybe you just love exploring it during your holidays. Either way the options are endless! Check out a few selected images below to set your creative wheel in motion.

Texas Photoshoot Inspiration from an artist from a different century

Concluding our Texas Trip Tips with:

5. The exhibition of the work of painter Franz X. Winterhalter, who was commissioned by many 19th Century high society members in Europe, at Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts.  This Portraiture is absolutely interesting and I loved analyzing the use of light, composition, background and outfits from so long ago. I found this article about him quite interesting. When looking at his paintings I feel totally infused and can’t wait to recreate an image like he painted. If the old and vintage, classical and royal make your heart go soft, then mention this during our consultation and we can have a look at paintings to explore how we can make it happen for you.
6. NASA’s Space Center near Houston was super nice. It helped me to understand scale and  size. It’s great to explore the missions into space and how it has helped advance science for us here on earth.
7. In harsh contrast to the cutting edge NASA science I also enjoyed a bit of vintage on our trip. I found the old houses and ships of Galverston charming. Needless to say, they are quite romantic photoshooting backdrops, right?
